The Call of the Mountain update is finally here with 139 new cards including 7 new champions, new mechanics and keywords, plus a new region, Targon. There will be 30 more new cards released throughout the next few months, that will include 6 more new champions.
You can find
all the new Legends of Runeterra Call of the Mountain cards in our Card Database!
Targon Champions
Coming from the mightiest peak in Runeterra, the champions of Targon are joining the battle with new mechanics and unique cards. Warriors of the Sun and Moon, the representation of beauty and even a star dragon, they're all here!
Leona
Leona brings a new interesting mechanic that helps her keep enemies under control.
Daybreak gives bonuses to the cards that were played first in a turn. Make sure to keep an eye on what card you're playing first and if it's the optimal choice. ;)
Diana
Diana comes to slay enemies in the moonlight with her new mechanic.
Nightfall grants an activatable bonus when it's not the first card played, similarly how to the Combo effect works in Hearthstone. While Daybreak boosts the first card played, Nightfall boosts any card that's not the first! Sun and Moon... Daybreak and Nightfall, nice!
Taric
Taric is ready to toughen up his allies and keep them safe from enemy attacks. He's a dedicated support that will boost your cards while amplifying the effectiveness of spells cast on him. Beautiful... just like him!
Aurelion Sol
Beware the almighty Star Dragon!
Aurelion Sol and his celestial powers will help you achieve victory in battle. With great stats and celestial allies, he will be one of the most feared foes in the game.
Targon Decks
If you want to find decks for Targon champions look no further! We have deck lists dedicated to each Targon champion:
Other Champions
On top of the champions for the new region Targon, Riot has added several more champions to join your decks!
Trundle - Freljord
At last, our favorite frosty troll joins Legends of Runeterra together with his strong effects and spectacular cards! He looks like a tough opponent to deal with, especially when he's joined by his troll friends!
Behold is a new mechanic that joins them, which gives different bonuses when players have specific cards in their hand or in play. It's going to be interesting to see what creative decks will be created with troll and high cost cards!
Lulu - Ionia
The Yordle sorceress is here to support her allies to victory. If you've ever thought who the best support is,
Lulu might be the one as she's already supporting in two different games! Together with Pix and her magical spells, she can boost the strength of her allies while weakening enemies. Looks fun... for whoever holds
Lulu!
Nocturne - Shadow Isles
The darkness is closing in, as
Nocturne extends his reach into Runeterra to search for prey. The demonic amalgamation will fear enemies and make them vulnerable, shattering their morale and thoughts of victory. Ready yourself for the eternal nightmare!
New Champion Decks
Once again if you'd like to try out some decks for the new champions in Call of the Mountain take a look at their deck lists:
Call of the Mountain Mechanics and Keywords Recap
LoR Call of the Mountain comes with an array of new mechanics and keywords. We've already covered some of them above, but let's quickly recap!
Daybreak
Daybreak text reads "Bonus if this is the first card you play in a round". Players will have to plan ahead and decide which card to play first to get the full benefit from the Daybreak effect. Straightforward mechanic that spices up the thought process behind playing cards!
Nightfall
Nightfall text reads "Bonus if this is not the first card you play in a round". This is basically Daybreak in reverse and it works similarly to Hearthstone's Combo. This looks like a fun mechanic to work into your deck, but as in the case of Daybreak, it requires prior planning to reach its maximum potential!
Behold
Behold text reads "Bonus if you have a type of card in play or hand". Going to be fun prepping your deck with all kinds of cards to satisfy the trolls!
Spellshield
Spellshield text reads "Nullifies the next enemy spell or skill that would affect this unit". Time to counter these pesky spells!
Fury
Fury text reads "When I kill a unit, grant me +1|+1". The higher the killing spree, the more power!
Invoke
Invoke text reads "Pick a Celestial card from among 3 to create in hand". Free celestial cards anyone?
