Baalkux felt the tree's limbs grip the staff inside which he lay dormant. Quickly, he gripped back. His life erupted from the darkin staff and coursed through the tree's ancient boughs and branches. There was no heart to control here. No blood to bend. Baalkux could finally return to his general, and atone for his past transgressions.
